BOSTON – After honoring four seniors, the Boston University women's tennis team cruised to a pair of 7-0 victories against Lafayette and Holy Cross on Sunday afternoon at the Track & Tennis Center.
Seniors
Remi Ramos,
Sabrina Faybyshev,
Sophia Kryloff and
Kaely Malik all contributed at least one point in singles action on the day to help the Terriers (9-8, 3-0 PL) wrap the home schedule with a perfect 6-0 record. Malik was joined by sophomors
Lily Burchell,
Emily Kim and
Katya Martens in claiming two singles points apiece.
MATCH 1: BU 7, Lafayette 0
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kim and freshman Shelly Yaloz posted a 6-3 victory at line 1 doubles, while Faybyshev and Kryloff teamed together for a 6-2 victory in the No. 2 slot for the 1-0 advantage.
- Burchell coasted to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at line 3.
- Both Ramos and Kim dropped just two games apiece in the top two singles matches.
- Faybyshev posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory in the No. 4 slot.
- With the team result decided, Martens earned an 8-0 win in a shortened match at line 5, while Malik claimed an 8-3 victory in the No. 6 slot.
MATCH 2: BU 7, Holy Cross 0 (Turnpike Trophy match)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers dropped just eight games total in singles and doubles action, as Burchell earned Turnpike Trophy MVP honors.
- Burchell teamed with Ramos for a 6-0 victory at line 1 doubles and then cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win in the No. 2 singles slot.
- Faybyshev and Martens also posted a 6-0 win in doubles (#2) to clinch the first point.
- Kim (#1) and Kryloff (#4) both earned identical 6-1, 6-0 victories, while Martens earned a 6-2, 6-1 win at line 3.
- Malik (#5) and sophomore Dani Blaser (#6) sealed the sweep by a combined score of 16-1.

- The Terriers will next visit the Mids on Saturday (April 6) at 11 a.m.
- BU won last year's meeting, 5-2, in Winchester, Massachusetts.
