Terrier Twelve - #9: Athletics Raises $1.36 Million on Another Record-Breaking Giving Day

For the 12th straight year, GoTerriers.com will once again count down the top 12 achievements of Boston University teams and student-athletes from the previous year. Check back each Tuesday and Friday as we reveal this year's Terrier Twelve.
 
Coming in at No. 9 in this year's Terrier Twelve is another record-setting Giving Day, as Boston University Athletics raised $1.36 million in the 24-hour campaign held on April 3.
 

Athletics Giving Day Chair Charley Lax (Questrom '82) headed up this year's efforts, which resulted in the athletic department's most successful fundraising day ever with Terrier Nation coming together to top the previous mark of $1.29 million set on Giving Day 2018.

 BU alumni, parents, friends, student-athletes and staff surpassed $1 million in Giving Day donations for the third consecutive year. Over the past three BU Giving Days, nearly $3.7 million has been raised for Athletics. This year's final tally represented a large portion of the $3,275,268 raised in total across campus.
 
In 2019 BU Athletics saw 3,792 total donors contribute, a 17% increase in overall donor participation from the previous year, and once again had 100% participation from of all varsity student-athletes as well as 100% participation from BU Athletics staff. In addition, 15 of 20 varsity sport increased donor participation in comparison to Giving Day 2018 while a record 36% of all Athletics' Young Alumni (classes of 2009-2018) participated by making a gift.
 
Men's rowing led all varsity sports by raising a total of $279,339 while men's ice hockey raised $201,430 and women's hockey raised $122,481.
