August 1, 2019 | Women's Soccer
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A two-time All-Conference honoree and 2018 Patriot League Tournament MVP, Boston University junior Anna Heilferty is one of 61 Division I women's soccer players named to the inaugural 2019 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, presented by World Wide Technology, the United Soccer Coaches and Missouri Athletic Club announced on Thursday afternoon.
The MAC Hermann Trophy, presented by World Wide Technology, is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and is presented annually to the most outstanding women's and men's players of the year. The award's respective watch lists are compiled by members of the United Soccer Coaches Men's and Women's NCAA Division I All-America Committees.
Heilferty followed her 2017 Patriot League Rookie of the Year season with a stellar sophomore campaign to earn All-Region First Team accolades and help the Terriers claim their first NCAA berth since 2015. The Falls Church, Virginia, native led BU in goals (6), assists (6) and points (18). She racked up three goals and four assists during conference play and produced at least one point in six of nine Patriot League contests.
Heilferty has previously garnered national attention, as she joined the U.S. U-18 National Team at the Women's U-19 La Manga 12 Nations Tournament in the spring of 2018. She is the second Terrier in three years to be named to the Watch List after two-time PL Defender of the Year Rachel Bloznalis was recognized in 2017.
The Terriers will begin their season at Denver on Thursday, Aug. 22, at 9 p.m. ET. Fans will have their first opportunity to see the team in action when they host Michigan State on Sunday, Sept. 1, at 7 p.m. as part of the Terrier Tailgate festivities.
Semifinalists for both the men's and women's MAC Hermann Trophy will be named on Dec. 3. Three finalists will be announced on Dec. 13. The coveted award is scheduled to be presented on Jan. 10 in St. Louis, Missouri.
