Terriers Compete at John Thomas Terrier Classic

BOSTON - The Boston University women's track & field team hosted the John Thomas Terrier Classic at BU's Track and Tennis Center on Friday.
The Terriers had several notable performers including junior Emma Montoya who competed in the 400m dash, finishing fourth in a field of 140 with a time of 55.71. Her time currently is the second best 400m in the PL this year.
Junior Bridget Chiaravalle also had a top five finish, finishing fourth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.23 in a field of 53.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Once again the BU Track & Tennis Center saw a large gathering of elite athletes compete on Friday. Six women finished the 1 mile run in under 4:40 led by Laura Galvan who finished with an incredible time of 4:31.89. Kathryn Gillespie of the University of Texas was the top collegiate runner, finishing fourth with time of 4:34.64.
After today's results, 68 women have now run sub 4:40 miles at the TTC.

The John Thomas Terrier Classic continues on Saturday, Jan. 25th at the TTC with the men's competition scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.

- Freshman Joceline Wind competed in the 800m dash and finished with an excellent time of 2:12.02, good for 19th in a field of 150 entries and third fastest in the PL this season.
- Junior Emma Montoya had a strong performance in the 400m dash, finishing fourth with a time of 55.71. Her time stands as the second best in the PL this year.
- Freshman Noelani Phillips had strong performance in the 200m dash, finishing eighth in a field of 180 with a time of 24.92
- Cecelia Gerstenbacher qualified for the 60m dash invitational finals and finished fifth with a time of 7.81.
- Greer Liguori finished 22nd in the 400m dash with a time of 57.40, a new personal best. Liguori also competed in the 60m hurdles invite prelims and finished 12th with a time of 9.05.
- In the field, Lauren Sikoski had a terrific performance in the pole vault, finishing third with a vault of 3.65 meters (11'11.75") which is a personal best and second best all time for a BU vaulter.
- Freshman Natalie Kwortnik finished seventh in the long jump with a leap of 5.48m (7'11 ¾").
- The 4x800m relay team of Joceline Wind, Stephanie Casaletto, Stephanie Forbes and Taylor Leggett finished fourth with a terrific time of 9:37.24, sixth-best in the PL this season.
