Dear Soccer - Rachel Kingston
April 13, 2020 | Women's Soccer
Dear Soccer,
To my first love and the biggest source of happiness in my life, thank you. There are so many things I could say thank you for, but most importantly I want to say thank you for giving me my family.
My time as a soccer player at Boston University has been anything but ordinary. Through the lows of injuries and losing seasons, to the highs of winning a championship, soccer has put me through it all, but still somehow through all the craziness my teammates remained constant.
Teams change every year with the seniors graduating and young freshmen eager to fill their roles, but the culture and family at BUWOSOC never changes. To say I played for Nancy Feldman and the rest of the staff at Boston University is an honor in itself, but to say I played alongside some of the most amazing people is even better. BUWOSOC prides itself on its student-athletes, with a strong emphasis on the student part. Through this culture I have learned the importance of hard work and persevering through challenging times. I can't say I will miss 6 a.m. practices or fitness testing, but from the bottom of my heart I will miss doing it with the people I love the most.
Thank you to the Boston University Department of Athletics for truly having an open door policy as I walked through the Babcock Street building. Every day I was greeted with a smile and the comfort of knowing everyone there genuinely cared about me. Boston University is my home and my family and I am forever grateful for that. To the next student-athletes that get to join our amazing family, embrace and enjoy every opportunity thrown your way because one day you'll wish you could do it all over again.
Sincerely,
Rachel Kingston // #14
