Conlin, Oldham Claim Patriot League Weekly Honors
October 4, 2021 | Women's Soccer
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After playing all 90 minutes in the Boston University women's soccer team's 1-0 road victory at Lehigh, both seniors Elle Conlin and Jenna Oldham have received Patriot League weekly honors, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Both awards mark the first of the season for the defender Conlin and forward Oldham. The announcement also marks the second time this season that BU received multiple honors in the same week after senior defender Margaret Berry and freshman goalkeeper Celia Braun were recognized on Aug. 24.
A native of North Oaks, Minnesota, Conlin collected her first career weekly award by playing a key role in the center back position. She helped the Terriers' backline not only shut out the Mountain Hawks but also hold them to a season-low one shot attempt on goal. BU was just the second opponent this season to limit Lehigh to single-digit shot attempts. The Mountain Hawks finished with only six total and went the entire second half without a corner kick.
Named PL Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, Oldham wsa honored for the first time since claiming an award in the spring. She scored the game-winning goal in the 78th minute against Lehigh after forcing an impressive diving save off the initial penalty kick and then quickly scoring on the rebound with the side of her foot. The Lithia, Florida, native is now second in the PL in both points (13) and game-winning goals (3).
The Terriers will next host Yale in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday (Oct. 5) at 7 p.m.
