BU, No. 18 Northeastern to Renew Rivalry This Weekend

The Boston University men's ice hockey team will continue its 100th season this weekend when the Terriers face No. 18 Northeastern in a home-and-home series that begins Friday night at Agganis Arena and concludes Saturday night at Matthews Arena. Puck drop on Friday is at 7:30.
Effective Oct. 15, 2021, all guests 12 years and older will be required to present proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 or a qualifying negative COVID-19 test to gain access to Agganis Arena and the Case Center for ice hockey and basketball games. TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU earned a win and a tie in last weekend's series with then-No. 8/9 UMass, skating to a 2-2 tie on Nov. 12 at Agganis before taking a 4-3 overtime win in Amherst the next night.
- Junior defenseman Case McCarthy scored in both games, including the overtime-winner. He now has a goal in four of his last five games.
- Junior Jay O'Brien returned to the lineup and finished the weekend with three points, including a goal and an assist in the victory at UMass.
- Four of the Terriers' top five point producers are juniors, including Wilmer Skoog (5g, 6a) and Robert Mastrosimone (5g, 5a), who are 1-2 in points and tied for the team lead in goals.
- Junior Domenick Fensore is third in points (9) thanks to a team-high seven assists.
- Twenty-one different Terriers have registered a point this season after O'Brien earned his first assist of the year on Nov. 12.
- O'Brien also became the 14th different Terrier goal scorer this season when he lit the lamp in the 4-3 win.
SERIES HISTORY
- This will be the 243rd meeting between the Terriers and Huskies since they first met during the 1930-31 season, but it will be the first game between the two schools since March 7, 2020.
- The only team BU has played more games against is Boston College (282).
- BU holds a 167-64-11 (.713) advantage, including wins in 15 of the past 25 meetings (15-7-3) but the Huskies are 6-3-2 in the past 11.
- In the eight meetings that have taken place since the start of last season, four have gone to overtime.
- BU is 16-8-2 (.654) in the teams' 16 meetings at Agganis Arena.
- The two teams have played 30 overtime games in the all-time series, and BU holds a 12-7-11 edge.
- The Terriers have recorded 15 of the 18 shutouts between the crosstown rivals.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
- Northeastern had its five-game win streak snapped on Nov. 12 in a 2-1 overtime loss at then-No. 20 UMass Lowell.
- The Huskies enter the weekend at 8-4-0 overall and 4-3-0 in league play.
- Three of their four losses have been against ranked foes.
- Junior forward Aidan McDonough leads Northeastern in goals (8) and points (10).
- Senior defender Jordan Harris and sophomore forward Ty Jackson are tied for the team lead in assists with seven apiece.
- Sophomore goaltender Devon Levi has started all 12 games for the Huskies, posting a .943 save percentage and a 1.59 goals-against average to go along with an NCAA-best four shutouts.
- BU and Northeastern will face off at Matthews Arena on Saturday night at 7.
- Saturday's contest will be televised live on NESN+.
