Terriers to Host Binghamton at The Roof Saturday Afternoon

BOSTON – Seeking its second three-game win streak of the season, the Boston University men's basketball team will host former America East foe Binghamton on Saturday with tip-off slated for 1 p.m.
The Terriers most recently earned a 56-54 win at George Washington on Wednesday night after beating Merrimack at home on Sunday, 61-60, with the help of a late 3-pointer. The Bearcats ended the month of November with a 110-41 win over Hartwick and are looking to bounce back from Wednesday's 79-57 defeat at Saint Joseph's.

- This year's squad is trying to become the first since 2004-05 to open a season with at least seven wins through the first 10 contests and also the first since 2016-17 to win the first three home games at The Roof.
- Averaging a team-high 17.2 ppg and 2.8 apg, graduate student Javante McCoy is just 24 points away from becoming the ninth Terrier to reach 1,500 career points and the second to hit that milestone along with 300+ assists after Corey Lowe ('10) accomplished the feat.
- Classmate Sukhmail Mathon needs just five rebounds to hit 600 and 105 more to become the ninth Terrier to haul in 700 boards. He leads the team at 8.6 rpg while also averaging 12.0 ppg and 2.3 apg.
- Senior Fletcher Tynen (6.2 ppg, 4.2 rpg) has stepped up averaging 9.0 ppg over the last five games and 5.3 rpg over the last four contests.
- BU has been clutch down the stretch, hitting a combined 21-of-22 free throws in the final minute of regulation and in overtime. The Terriers are 6-1 this season when hitting more free throws than opponents.
- BU is 1-0 against the America East this season following earlier 75-70 win at defending champion Hartford.
- The Terriers are averaging 68.3 ppg and 45.5 FG% while holding teams to 62.6 ppg and 42.7 FG%.
- The Bearcats won their first road game at Sacred Heart, 72-60, and battled Columbia to overtime in defeat, 85-77, before falling at then-No. 23 UConn (87-63) and SJU.
- Binghamton has used the same lineup for five of the six games with John McGriff (3.0 apg) and Tyler Bertram both averaging 11.2 ppg.
- Ogheneyole Akuwovo is averaging 7.4 ppg and 5.4 rpg in five starts.
- Binghamton is averaging 74.7 ppg and 45.5 FG% while holding teams to 71.3 ppg and 45.0 FG%.
- BU is 22-6 all-time in the series that dates back to 2001-02.
- The Bearcats snapped a 10-game losing streak two years at home by prevailing in overtime, 84-79, behind 40 points from now Penn State player Sam Sessoms. BU grad Max Mahoney ('20) tallied 38 in that same contest.
- The Terriers are 12-2 overall at home and last hosted Binghamton in a 77-65 win in 2014.
- BU will welcome a second America East opponent, UMass Lowell, to The Roof on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
