BOSTON - The Boston University field hockey team will play its first home game in exactly 17 months when Colgate visits New Balance Field on Saturday (March 27) in a matchup of 2-0 teams. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
The teams were originally scheduled to play two games this weekend but Sunday's contest has been canceled due to BU's reduced roster size stemming from COVID protocols.
The Terriers will be aiming for their first 3-0 start since the 2017 season after starting the year with 2-1 road wins at Holy Cross and Lafayette. Last weekend against the Leopards, senior
Alexis Pettisani scored her first collegiate goal in overtime. Classmates
Liz Ryan and
Kathryn Scheerer and junior
Rebecca Janes have each tallied a goal this season.Â
After opening the season with a 2-1 road win at Bucknell, the Raiders earned a 1-0 victory over Holy Cross in their home opener on March 21. They are now just one win away from matching their 2019 total.
Senior Meghan Minturn has two goals, including the lone tally against the Crusaders, while Marie Kniezewski has a goal and an assist. Junior goalkeeper Anna Unger has stopped 19 of the 20 shots she has faced thus far.
BU is 9-1 all-time against the Raiders with the lone loss coming in the first-ever meeting in 1983. In the most recent match-up in 2019, the Terriers posted a 6-1 road win.
