HOW IT HAPPENED
- Michael Stone was tested early with a headed on frame 30 seconds into play, but deflected the shot, and the follow-up went above the crossbar.
- BU capitalized in transition as Balogun weaved his way from the far wing towards the 18-yard box, and drove a cross towards Marshall, who one-timed a strike into the back of the net.
- George Abunaw nearly made it a two-goal game in the 40th minute, driving towards the back line and nearly got an open look, though Army's keeper left his post and smothered the ball to prevent further damage.
- Army nearly tied the game in the 74th minute, as a Black Knight had a chance from the corner of the 18-yard box, but Stone collapsed on the ball to hold the lead.
- The Black Knights broke through in the 83rd minute as Carter Kowalewski bended a free kick from 20 yards out just inside the near post for the equalizer to force extra time.
- Army's best look at a game-winning goal came two minutes into the first period, but it blasted an empty-net opportunity high.
- BU moved to 5-0-2 all-time at Nickerson Field against the Black Knights.
- Stone made his second start of the season in net and finished with four saves.
- Army finished with a 10-2 command in corner kicks and place 5-of-16 shots on goal.
- BU finished the regular season third in the North Division standings at four points ahead of both Colgate (3) and Army (1).
- Owner of 12 points in the division, Lafayette is currently scheduled to host Holy Cross (6) on Wednesday in the Patriot League semifinals.
- The Crusaders are currently on pause and will learn Tuesday if they will be able to compete.
- If Holy Cross is unable to compete, BU will take its place in the tournament.
