BOSTON - The Boston University women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Harvard on Thursday night at Nickerson Field.

Despite trailing by a goal at the half, BU (1-3-1) threatened early in the second stanza and nearly equalized before Harvard (2-0-0) added two more goals to pull away for good.

Freshman Celia Braun started in goal and made a pair of saves over her 45 minutes of work while junior Gretchen Bennett played the entire second half and made three stops.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Harvard struck first in the 34th minute when Taylor Fasnacht put a ball into the center of the box that Josephine Hasbo was able to strike first time and place in the back of the net.
BU earned its first corner in the 40th minute but was unable to capitalize as junior Ashley Buck's header went wide.
The Terriers pressured Harvard over the latter part of the first half but were unable to equalize.
Senior Jenna Oldham had a great chance to tie the game just minutes into the second stanza but her free kick whistled inches past the outside of the left post.
Immediately after that free kick, Harvard pushed the ball forward and eventually scored from right in front of the cage to make it 2-0.
The Crimson added a third goal in the 54th minute to close the scoring.

GAME NOTES

Bennett matched her career high with three saves; she also stopped three shots at Boston College on Aug. 26.
Sophomore Lily Matthews led the Terriers with two shot attempts and produced her team's lone shot on target.

UP NEXT

BU will begin a stretch of two straight games in Rhode Island when the Terriers travel to URI on Sunday, Sept. 5.
