Thompson Repeats As PL Offensive Player of the Week
October 3, 2022 | Women's Soccer
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second consecutive week, Boston University women's soccer redshirt senior Amy Thompson has been selected as the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon.
Thompson becomes the first Patriot League student-athlete to win the honor multiple times this season. This marks the first season she has earned Offensive Player of the Week twice. With her selection, BU has collected three total Offensive Player of the Week awards in 2022, the most in the league as of writing.
Thompson scored the game-winning goal in the 81st minute in BU's 1-0 victory over Lehigh on Oct. 1. The redshirt senior collected a ball from sophomore Morgan Fagan and tucked the shot near the upper-left corner from the right post. It marked the second consecutive match she scored with under 10 minutes remaining.
She has scored three goals in her last four matches, all of which have been go-ahead goals against Patriot League opponents. Thompson now leads the Terriers with four goals and nine points on the season. She is second in the PL during league play with her three tallies, and she has a league-best 11 shots on goal (2.75 per game) in that span.
The Terriers break from league action to visit Harvard on Tuesday (Oct. 4). Opening kick is set for 4 p.m. The game will air on NESN in addition to ESPN+.
