HOW IT HAPPENED
- BU raced out to a 10-4 lead in the first four-and-a-half minutes after Pina and Davenport each canned a three.
- However, the Eagles would close the opening quarter on a 15-2 run, burying three triples. Lacey provided two of those threes.
- The Terriers responded with the second quarter's first 12 points. After a Crispe layup and Shean corner three, senior Maren Durant drained two layups while Johnson nailed a jumper in the paint. Durant's second bucket gave the visitors a 24-19 edge at the 6:36 mark.
- Boston College would then rip off a 10-2 run in less than 90 seconds, creating a 29-26 lead near the stanza's midpoint.
- Pina and Taina Mair traded three-pointers, then the Terrier drilled two more triples on consecutive possessions to make it 35-32 in BU's favor.
- The Eagles, who led 36-35 after the first half, rattled off a 9-2 run through halftime to go up 41-37.
- Trailing 46-40 with 5:57 left in the third, Shean knocked down a fastbreak three by the right wing, then Johnson and Crispe teamed up for three layups, the former converting off her own steal as the clock read 4:17 to close an 11-3 BU run that put the Terriers on top, 51-49.
- Waggoner's second-chance layup with 2:16 to go in the frame replenished the Eagles' lead to 55-51, but Shean nailed back-to-back threes around Lacey's jumper to knot the game at 57-57. The Terriers would go ahead 59-58 heading into the fourth.
- Boston College took a 64-61 advantage 1:38 into the final period with three of the quarter's first four buckets, two coming inside from Maria Gakdeng.
- With the Eagles ahead 69-63 with six minutes to play, the Terriers had free throws from Davenport and Crispe as well as Shean's fifth three-pointer, all as one minute occurred, to re-tie the game at 71-71.
- BU went nearly 2:30 without a field goal, but had three perfect trips to the charity stripe to stay with Boston College before Johnson's jumper with 2:33 to go tied the game at 78-78.
- Crispe and Waggoner each traded layups as the clock ran down to two minutes, making it 80-80.
- The Eagles scored three-straight layups in 59 seconds to maintain an 86-80 edge with 40.8 seconds to go, and sealed the game on free throws the rest of the way.
