
Hutson Named to U.S. National Junior Team Preliminary Roster

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Freshman Lane Hutson of the Boston University men's ice hockey team has been named to the preliminary roster for the 2023 U.S. National Junior Team, USA Hockey announced on Monday.
Hutson, who was named Best Defenseman at the 2022 Under-18 World Championship after helping Team USA earn a silver medal, will compete at a training camp at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich., from Dec. 12-17. He is auditioning for a spot on the final 23-player roster that will represent the United States in the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship Dec. 26, 2022 – Jan. 5, 2023, in Moncton, New Brunswick, and Halifax, Nova Scotia
A native of North Barrington, Illinois, Hutson has been phenomenal in his rookie season with the Terriers. He is tied for fourth among NCAA defensemen with 17 points thanks to six goals and 11 assists. His average of 1.21 points per game ranks second nationally among blue liners and he is third in the nation in goals by a defenseman with six.
Hutson is the reigning Hockey East Defender of the Month and has earned three weekly awards from the league. Hutson already has a pair of three-assist games to his credit and leads BU with three game-winning goals, including two in overtime. Hutson has tallied seven points during the Terriers current four-game win streak and has notched at least two points in seven of his 14 appearances.
