Men's Basketball to End Regular Season at Bucknell Saturday Afternoon

BOSTON – Concluding the regular season, the Boston University men's basketball team will visit Bucknell on Saturday with tip-off slated for 2 p.m.
The Terriers have already secured the No. 3 seed for next week's Patriot League tournament following this past Wednesday's 76-60 home win over Lafayette and have set their sights on earning their fourth series sweep of the year. The Bison can finish as high as ninth and are looking to enter the tourney with momentum following a 73-60 loss at Army.

TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU has 20+ wins for the second time in three years and 16th season overall. The Terriers are 8-6 in road games and had won four straight until last Saturday's 72-53 loss at Colgate.
- Graduate student Sukhmail Mathon (15.0 ppg, 10.2 rpg) is five points away from becoming the 41st in program history to reach 1,000 points. Classmate Javante McCoy (16.9 ppg) ranks fourth all-time at 1,827 points, while senior Walter Whyte (12.7 ppg) ranks 21st at 1,189 points.
- 10 Terriers have scored in double figures this season. On Wednesday, junior Ethan Brittain-Watts became the seventh to accomplish the feat multiple times this season after posting a personal-best 13 points against the Leopards.
- Overall, BU is averaging 70.6 ppg and 45.5 FG% while holding teams to 66.2 ppg and 44.4 FG%.
- The Bison are 6-6 at home compared to the 1-16 away mark. Three of the wins have occurred in overtime against Siena (65-56), Loyola Maryland (82-80) and most recently Lafayette (92-89) on Feb 19.
- Guard Andrew Funk leads Bucknell at 17.8 ppg and 2.7 apg while shooting 35.9 percent from behind the arc, while guard Xander Rice averages 12.9 ppg, 40.6 3FG% and 88.7 FT%.
- Forward Andre Screen is averaging a team-high 6.7 rpg while also adding 11.5 ppg and 26 blocks.
- Bucknell ranks 29th nationally at 76.3 FT% and 45th at 36.9 3FG%. The Bison average 70.3 ppg and 45.0 FG% while holding opponents to 78.8 ppg and 46.1 FG%.
- The Terriers have won the last four meetings after sweeping all three games in 2020, including the PL semifinals en route to the tournament title, and posting a 63-61 home win back on Jan. 1.
- Funk led all players with 25 points but went 0-of-7 from behind the arc and missed a go-ahead shot with five seconds left in regulation.
- Mathon posted a career-high 18 rebounds and added 21 points to lead BU while McCoy recorded 17 points and five boards.
- BU is visiting Sojka Pavilion for the first time since claiming a 77-57 win on Feb. 1, 2020.
- Seeking their second title in three years, the Terriers will host the No. 6 seed in the PL quarterfinals on Thursday (March 3) at 7 p.m.
