
Liljegren Qualifies for NCAA Championships in 10k; Montoya Advances to Quarterfinals in 400 Hurdles

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Sophomore Daisy Liljegren became the first Boston University woman in five years to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a 10th-place finish in the 10,000-meter run at the NCAA East Preliminary meet on Thursday at the Haugh Track & Field Complex.
Senior Emma Montoya started the day with a personal record in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing third in her heat in a time of 58.49 seconds to advance to Saturday's quarterfinals.
Liljegren stayed near the top of the pack for the majority of her race before finishing in a time of 34:31.44 to take 10th in the race and automatically qualify for. NCAAs.
Graduate student Corinne Batsu stayed in the middle of the pack for the first 6,000 meters before eventually pulling out.
In Thursday's final event, freshman Kiana Lino capped a strong rookie season with a toss of 15.26 meters on her final throw of the shot put, just shy of her PR of 15.56 meters.
