Two undefeated squads in Patriot League play square off on Saturday (Oct. 1) as the Boston University field hockey team visits No. 25 American. The two programs have combined to claim eight of the past nine PL tournament titles with each winning four times during the span.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU is coming off a weekend split, posting a 3-0 PL victory against Holy Cross before falling to No. 14 Harvard, 3-0.
- The win over the Crusaders marked the 500th career victory for Sally Starr, who became just the sixth Division I field hockey to reach the milestone..
- Junior Tess Csejka continues to lead the team in both goals (6) and points (12) while sophomore Payton Anderson ranks second in both with seven points and three goals.
- The Terriers hold a 129-107 edge in shots over their opponents this season.
- Graduate student Casey Thompson has assisted on four of BU's past six goals.
- Senior goalkeeper Caroline Kelly is coming off a 12-save performance against Harvard and currently has a 2.00 goals-against average to go along with a .745 save percentage.
SCOUTING AMERICAN
- The Eagles head into Saturday on a three-game win streak, having posted home shutouts against Colgate (8-0) and Queens University (5-0) last weekend after a 2-1 overtime road win at Lafayette on Sept. 17.
- American's other wins this season have come against Central Michigan, Delaware and New Hampshire.
- Sophomore Federica Turina Dellamaggiore has a team-best 15 points on six goals and three assists while senior Charllene Boshoff has 14 points off a squad-best seven goals.
- Freshman Lotta Curanz and senior Merel Dupont each have two goals and three assists.
- Junior Bryn Underwood has played every minute in goal for the Eagles this season and has an .846 save percentage and a 1.10 goals-against average.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Terriers are 12-5Â all-time against American with victories in eight of the past 11Â meetings.Â
- American has won the past two meetings, however, including a 3-1 road victory last season.
