Weimar Named Patriot League Player Of The Week
November 13, 2023 | Women's Basketball
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Fresh off the first week of the season, Boston University women's basketball senior Caitlin Weimar has been selected as the Patriot League Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 13, the conference announced on Monday.
Weimar captures the league's first Player of the Week honor in 2023-24. It marks her fourth in her career, after she became the first Terrier in program history to receive the recognition three times in a single year last season.
The forward averaged 20.5 points and 13 rebounds on 58.3 percent shooting to help power BU to a 2-0 start to the campaign. In the season opener against UMass Lowell last Monday (Nov. 6), she dropped a career-high 33 points on 12-of-19 shooting with 12 boards, including the game-winning hook shot to beat the buzzer. Her performance was tied for the second-highest scoring effort in Division I on the first night of the year.
Weimar followed that up with eight points, 14 rebounds, and two blocks in the Terriers' 56-47 triumph over UNH on Friday (Nov. 10).
In two-plus seasons at BU, the Patriot League Preseason Player and Defensive Player of the Year has collected 25 of her 28 career double-doubles. Across 56 career games in the Scarlet and White, she has averaged 13.2 points and 9.5 rebounds per game while hitting 55.2 percent of her shots.
BU turns its attention to Yale on Tuesday (Nov. 14). Opening tip from Case Gym is set for 6 p.m.
