BOSTON – The Boston University women's basketball program has officially signed five student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to comprise the Terriers' Class of 2028, Head Coach
Melissa Graves officially announced on Thursday.
Inez Gallegos, Hildur Gunnsteinsdóttir, Allison Schwertner, Channing Warren, and Taylor Williams will join the program ahead of the 2024-25 academic year. The class is composed of two guards and three forwards, and represented by three different countries.
INEZ GALLEGOS
Forward · 6-1 · San Francisco, Calif. · Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep
- Inez Gallegos enters her senior season as the 25th-ranked player in the Bay Area Girls Basketball Top 65 according to West Coast Preps.
- The San Francisco Chronicle highlighted Gallegos on their All-Metro Team following her junior year where the Fightin' Irish posted a 21-6 overall record, ranking 39th in the state.
- During that season, she was tabbed to the Ladycat Classic All-Tournament Team as well as the SHC Founders Invitational Varsity Player of the Game.
- Gallegos suited up for the Cal Stars U16 and U17 teams in the EYBL.
- In 2023, she helped the Stars earn a regional championship and an appearance in the Final Four at the EYBL Nike Nationals.
Coach Graves on Gallegos:
"Inez has one of the highest motors I've seen. Her versatility to play inside-out makes her a very tough matchup. She is exciting to watch both as a scorer and as a playmaker for her teammates. Our program will be instantly made better with her basketball talent, work ethic and ability to rebound out of area. We could not be more excited to add Inez to the Terrier Family."
HILDUR GUNNSTEINSDÓTTIR
Guard · 5-10 · Selfoss, Iceland · Iceland U18 National Team
- Hildur Gunnsteinsdóttir has been a member of Iceland's national team since 2021.
- With the U18 program, she averaged 9.1 points, four rebounds, and 2.3 assists across seven games in the 2023 FIBA U18 Women's European Championship Division B circuit.
- That marked an improvement from a season ago where she recorded five total points and 11 total rebounds across seven contests.
- A member of Hamar Basketball Club in Iceland's first division since 2019, she helped the team capture Icelandic Youth championships with the youth team in 2021 and 2023.
- Through seven games in the current season, she is averaging 10.1 points and 5.9 boards on nearly 43 percent shooting.
Coach Graves on Gunnsteinsdóttir:
"Hildur is a tremendous threat from beyond the arc. She creates a tough matchup with her ability to not only shoot the ball, but finish strong at the basket. Her length at the guard position will be a great asset on both the offensive and defensive end. We are so excited to have Hildur join the Terrier Family."
ALLISON SCHWERTNER
Forward · 6-3 · Littleton, Colo. · Mullen
- Allison Schwertner is a two-time state champion in basketball, and a First Team All-Centennial League selection.
- She set career-highs at Mullen in her junior year with 11.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game across 23 contests.
- Prior to this season, The Denver Post spotlighted her as one of 30 high school players to watch.
- In the 2022 Class 4A state championship, Schwertner guided the Mustangs with 11 points en route to their third-consecutive title.
- She has also garnered First Team Academic All-State recognition, and a three-time recipient of the Torch Award at Mullen.
Coach Graves on Schwertner:
"Allison has the ability to not only play back to basket, but can extend her range to the perimeter as well. She finishes around the rim at a high clip with great agility and footwork. We love her ability to play on both sides of the ball by adding her offensive talent as well as her shot-blocking ability to our program. We could not be more excited to have Allison join the Terrier Family."
CHANNING WARREN
Forward/Center · 6-3 · Orlando, Fla. · Timber Creek
- Channing Warren is a two-time All-Metro pick throughout her high school career.
- During her tenure at Timber Creek, the Wolves were district champions in 2021, and reached the Sweet 16 twice and Elite 8 once.
- In her junior year, Warren led Timber Creek with a .434 field goal percentage, 1.9 blocks per game and 5.8 rebounds per game, while scoring 10.3 points per contest.
- An honor roll student, she was nominated for the Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award.
- She has also been a two-time letterwinner in volleyball, recording 80 kills across 148 career sets.
Coach Graves on Warren:
"Channing is a truly dominant post presence. She has a variety of moves when playing back to basket and can also stretch the defense with her ability to score from the perimeter. Her capacity to protect the paint with her length and shot-blocking ability will prove to be an immediate impact for our program. We are thrilled to welcome Channing to our family."
TAYLOR WILLIAMS
Guard · 5-8 · Ajax, Ontario · Crestwood Prep
- Taylor Williams has been an Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA) champion at Crestwood Prep and Nike Girls EYBL Session 1 champion with the Kia Nurse Elite U17 program.
- In 2023, she has participated in the Team Canada Invitational camp, Selected Biosteel "Next Ones Up", and Selected NBA/FIBA Basketball without Borders camp.
- At Bill Crothers Secondary in 2021-22, she averaged 7.6 points per game while hitting 50 percent of her three-pointers.
- At the U17 Nationals with Ontario Basketball, she was named a First Team All-Star.
- Williams has received honor roll accolades in the last four years, and is a member of the Student Athletic Council as well as student leadership.

"Taylor is a dynamic guard who plays with high energy. She has a great basketball IQ and a natural ability to direct traffic while seeing the next play. We are looking forward to adding her skill set, athleticism, and ability to defend multiple positions to our roster. We are thrilled to welcome Taylor to our family."
