September 29, 2023 | Men's Tennis
TULSA, Okla. – The reigning Patriot League Rookie of the Year Corey Craig will represent the Boston University men's tennis team at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-America Championships starting Saturday morning.
Craig is the first Terrier to earn a spot at the prestigious week-long tournament since BU joined the PL in the summer of 2013. The 2023 All-Patriot League First Team honoree will open the prequalifying draw at 9 a.m. ET/8 a.m. CT against Drake's three-time All-Summit League member, Oliver Johansson, with the winner advancing to a 4:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. CT matchup against either Texas A&M's Michna Brayden or Northern Illinois' Iker Arrastia Gaztambide. Both contests will take place at the LaFortune Tennis Park.
In his freshman season, Craig posted a team-high 19 singles victories to help lead the Terriers to their first conference tournament final since 1999. He recorded a 14-5 mark during the spring at line 2 with a straight-set singles win over Bentley in the No. 1 slot.
A five-star recruit who ranked as high as No. 30 nationally in high school, the Coconut Creek, Florida, native won his final six decided singles matches, blanking Colgate in the PL quarterfinals and then dispatching Army in the semifinals. He earned BU's first PL Player of the Week honor in two years after claiming straight-set singles wins over Adelphi and MIT, which were followed by notable dual victories over Dartmouth, Navy and Marist.
While he is in Oklahoma, the rest of the squad will compete in Rhode Island at the Brown Invitational this weekend.
