BOSTON - The Boston University women's soccer team is set to take on Navy this Sunday (Oct. 1). Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. in Annapolis, Md.
Closing out its modest, two-game road swing, Sunday will mark the Terriers' fifth road game of the season. Though BU has not won a road game this year, it has tied in its last two trips against Northeastern and Lehigh.
Navy, meanwhile, wraps up its two-game homestand with its second Patriot League home contest. The Mids have lost just once at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility in 2023, a 1-0 result against Virginia Tech on Sept. 7.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- The Terriers are coming off a 2-2 comeback draw against Lehigh last Sunday (Sept. 24).
- The Terriers rallied from a two-goal deficit with tallies in the 81st and 83rd minutes.
- Sophomore Natalie Godoy scored her third goal of the year, quickly followed by Sophomore Giuliana Gianino's third of the season on a penalty kick.
- Junior goalkeeper Celia Braun started her 11th match of the season, recording three saves. Her 990 minutes on the pitch this year is a career-high for the Bethesda, Md. native.
- Braun is also four stops away from surpassing Amanda Fay for seventh place in program history in career saves.
- Freshman Kat Slott is the reigning Patriot League Rookie of the Week after assisting on Godoy's strike against the Mountain Hawks.
- The Terriers are currently tied for third with four other Patriot League programs with four points through three conference matches. Only Loyola Maryland (nine) and Lafayette (six) have more.
- BU's sophomore class has accounted for 22 of the team's 33 points this year, and nine of the 12 goals. Gianino and Godoy lead the Terriers in the latter category with three each.
- Nine of BU's 12 tallies this season have come in the second half.
SCOUTING NAVY
- Navy is 6-3-3 on the season, coming off an 11-0 victory over Division III side Marymount University on Sept. 25.
- The Mids are 1-2 in the Patriot League, having only scored one goal in three conference games. Most recently, Navy fell to Colgate on the road, 2-0.
- Senior Kat Healy and junior Alexa Riddle are tied for the team lead in goals with four each. Amanda Graziano's team-best six assists and 10 points are first and tied for fourth in the Patriot League, respectively.
- Mattie Gallagher has started all 11 of her appearances to the tune of a 1.09 goals-against average and .786 save percentage.
- Navy was projected to finish fifth in the Patriot League Preseason Poll following a 2022 campaign that saw the Mids reach the Patriot League quarterfinals with a 4-5 conference record.
SERIES HISTORY
- Sunday marks the 13th all-time meeting between the Terriers and the Mids in a series that dates back to 2013.
- BU is 9-3-0 all time against Navy, having taken the last two contests.
- In its last visit to Navy during the 2021 season, the Terriers collected a 3-1 victory. Amy Thompson, Jenna Oldham, and Abigail McNulty all found the back of the net.
- The two sides met last season at Nickerson Field on Sept. 24, 2022, with the Terriers taking the 1-0 victory behind Thompson's 84th-minute tally and Braun's career-high 10 saves.
