Gianino Named PL Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Joins Carr With Academic Honors

BOSTON – Boston University women's soccer senior Giulianna Gianino was named the 2025 Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the conference announced on Wednesday (Nov. 5). Gianino and sophomore Bridget Carr were selected to the Academic All-Patriot League Team.
Gianino is the Terriers' second-ever Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year, joining Alyssa Parisi's honor from 2015. She received Academic All-Patriot League recognition for the third consecutive season. Carr picked up her first academic award as a Terrier. BU was one of three schools with multiple Academic All-PL selections, joining American and Army West Point.
The 2025 Patriot League Midfielder of the Year, Gianino garnered first-team All-Patriot League honors for the third year in a row following a 25-point regular season. The senior recorded seven goals and 11 assists, the former tying for the team lead while the latter paced the Patriot League and tied for the single season program record. The Norwell, Mass. native is second in Division I with 2.47 shots on goal per game, fifth with 0.65 assists per game and tied for sixth with 11 helpers.
Carr racked up All-Patriot League Second Team honors after posting a 0.50 goals-against average and .871 save percentage in nine appearances. The Wyckoff, N.J. product went 7-0-1 against Patriot League competition, ending the regular season with six consecutive shutouts. She has not lost a Patriot League contest during her tenure in Terrier Town.
Gianino is set to graduate this spring with a degree in Human Physiology from Sargent College. Carr is pursuing an English degree in the College of Arts & Sciences.
No. 1-seed BU hosts No. 5-seed Lafayette in the 2025 Patriot League Tournament semifinal round on Thursday (Nov.6 ). Opening kick at Nickerson Field is set for 6 p.m.
