
Gianino, McNulty Earn NEWISA All-New England Team Spots

NEW ENGLAND – The Boston University women's soccer program placed two student-athletes on the NCAA Division I 2023 NEWISA All-New England Team, the organization announced on Thursday.
Sophomore midfielder Giulianna Gianino captured Second Team honors for her second-career NEWISA honor. Senior forward Abigail McNulty was recognized on the Third Team.
The team, which was voted on by NCAA Division I coaches from colleges and universities in New England, is comprised of a First Team, Second Team, and a Third Team. The 2023 NEWISA All-New England Team was chosen following a nomination and voting process. Each team contains four forwards, four center midfielders, four defenders and one goalkeeper. Voting ties expanded some teams.
Gianino picks up her second-straight Second Team accolade after leading BU with seven goals and five assists for 19 points, all of which marked personal-bests. The Norwell, Mass. native was selected First Team All-Patriot League and Academic All-Patriot League, ranking top-five in the Patriot League with 67 shots, 29 shots on goal, seven goals, and .95 points per game.
McNulty also recorded her second-straight All-New England Third Team pick. Starting all 11 of her appearances in 2023, she racked up four goals and two assists for 10 points to rank second in league play in goals and points per game. She was also selected to the First Team All-Patriot League, while earning an invitation to the NEWISA Division I Senior Bowl back in November.
The New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association is an over 35-year-old member organization that supports the women's collegiate soccer community in New England at the NCAA Division I, Division II and Division III level. NEWISA's signature program is the Senior Bowl. The organization also recognizes All-New England Teams, highlights Coaching Staff of the Year Awards, offers Coaching Scholarships and honors New England collegiate soccer alumna for their service efforts.
