Wike Named Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week
October 14, 2024 | Men's Soccer
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After earning a shutout against Bucknell, Boston University men's soccer's graduate student Andrew Wike claimed Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week honors, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
A native of Edwardsville, Illinois, Wike earned his first career weekly award from the PL by stopping three of the Bison's shot attempts in Saturday's 1-0 victory at Nickerson Field. The conference honor marks the Terriers' second of the season following sophomore Andrea Di Blasio's Offensive Player of the Week recognition back on Sept. 16.
Wike recorded his second shutout of the season after previously posting five saves in a 0-0 draw against then-No. 9 New Hampshire in the season opener. In the matchup with Bucknell, he made an impressive save off a header set up by a corner kick in the 85th minute.
The Terriers will next visit Colgate on Saturday (Oct. 19) with a 3 p.m. start time.
