Newman Breaks 400 IM Pool Record at Army West Point

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Junior Haley Newman broke a 39-year-old pool record in the 400-yard individual medley at Army West Point on Saturday, posting a time of 4:21.80 at Crandall Pool.
The Black Knights posted a 155-69 victory over the Terriers, who move to 1-2 on the season.
Newman won two events, first taking the 100 butterfly in a time of 57.22 before her record swim in the 400 IM.
Senior Sophia Souza won the 1-meter dive with a score of 285.45 and was third in the 3-meter competition at 273.30.
Senior Fia McCarty was runner-up in the 100 breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:08.29 and junior Stella Langenbach took second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.55.
Freshman Katie Pestrichelli (500 free, 5:10.86) and classmates Cambria Jewett (100 fly, 58.72) and Abby Han (100 back, 1:00.35) added third-place finishes.
The Terriers will take next weekend off before returning to action on Nov. 9 when they host Massachusetts. Meet time is set for 1:30 p.m.
