BOSTON – During the NLI signing period, the Boston University women's basketball program received an official commitment from Kate Allard, the first Terrier in the BU Class of 2029.
"We could not be more excited to officially welcome her to the Terrier family," said head coach
Melissa Graves. "Kate brings a versatile skill set on both sides of the ball. She can stretch the defense with her ability to play on the perimeter while also being able to finish at a high clip around the rim. Kate has the lateral quickness to defend multiple positions and is an elite shot blocker."
Enrolled in her senior year at Bedford High School, Allard is a 6-foot-2 forward that is a two-time team captain. The Bedford, N.H. native has earned all-state honors in all three of her varsity seasons, including first team recognition as a sophomore and junior. Last season, she helped guide Bedford to a 24-0 record to capture the Division I state championship while earning her third selection to the New Hampshire all-star game.
Following her initial first team all-state award as a sophomore, Allard was invited to the NCAA College Basketball Academy. She also attended the Bluestar 30 camp and competed for the New England Crusaders at the AAU level.
In addition to basketball, Allard played volleyball at Bedford High School. In her tenure, the Bulldogs have gone unbeaten in three consecutive years, most recently winning its fifth straight state championships.
Off the courts, Allard is a member of the National Honor Society and Hew Hampshire scholar with an emphasis towards STEM.
