TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU last went to California for a three-day multi-team event hosted by UC Irvine in 2013. The Terriers posted a 2-1 record, collecting wins over the Anteaters and Long Island with a loss to Eastern Washington.
- On Monday, making his first career start, sophomore Michael McNair dished out a career-high seven assists while scoring in double digits for the second time ever at 12 points.
- Classmate Kyrone Alexander recorded a team-high 16 points to lead BU in scoring for the 10th time as a Terrier, while senior Malcolm Chimezie recorded 14 points with a team-high seven rebounds.
- Graduate student Miles Brewster was the other Terrier in double figures with 10 points.
- In the loss, BU won the rebound battle, 31-27, and tied NU in turnovers, 12-12. However, the Terriers shot 46.8 FG%, while the Huskies shot 63.4 FG%.
- The Terriers will try to win a road opener for the first time since defeating Holy Cross during the 2020-21 season that only featured games against the Patriot League. BU last won a road opener against a non-conference opponent in 2018 at Northeastern and last claimed an out-of-state road-opening victory at Norfolk State in 2014..
- USD went 18-15 last season with a 7-9 conference mark and 12-6 record at home with notable wins against Navy (67-59) and Arizona State (89-84).
- The Toreros are led by Steve Lavin in his third season after he served as head coach for UCLA from 1996-2003 and at St. John's from 2010-15, leading those two schools to a combined eight NCAA trips.
- In the one-point loss to Rider, 6-foot-1 guard Kjay Bradley Jr. tallied 24 points with three assists, while 6-foot-10 forward Santiago Trouet nearly had a double-double at 13 rebounds and eight points.
- USD shot 39.7 FG% and held Rider to 39.3 FG%, but the Broncos owned advantages in 3-pointers (9-6) and free throws (15-11) to overcome a 9-4 deficit in steals.
- BU and USD will face off for the first time ever.
- The Terriers have very little history with the West Coast Conference. They last visited a member in 1990 when participating in a multi-team event hosted by Gonzaga by edging Hofstra in OT and then dropping a 75-63 decision to the host Bulldogs.
- BU is 2-0 all-time against Pepperdine, but both wins occurred at multi-team events hosted by other schools. The Terriers won in 1989 at the Far West Classic hosted by Oregon State and at the 1995 Lobo Classic hosted by New Mexico.
- The BU softball program has history with USD with three wins on the Toreros' campus - 2023 (10-1), 2022 (3-1) and 2017 (3-0).
- The Terriers will head to UCLA on Monday (Nov. 11) at 10 p.m. ET.
- The Bruins are 2-0 all-time with two home victories after last claiming an 85-74 win in 1988.
- If the Bruins remain ranked after the first week of action, they will mark BU's first top-25 opponent since a 69-54 loss at then-No. 10 Miami in 2016.
