Schwertner Claims Patriot League Rookie of the Week Honors
December 9, 2024 | Women's Basketball
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second time this season, Boston University women's basketball freshman Allison Schwertner has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the week of Dec. 9, the conference announced on Monday.
Schwertner becomes the first Terrier to win Rookie of the Week honors multiple times in a campaign since Maren Durant (SAR'23) and Maggie Pina (CAS'23) did so in the 2019-20 season. Pina went on to garner Patriot League Rookie of the Year recognition that year. Schwertner has now earned the award twice in the last three weeks.
In BU's 60-55 victory at Le Moyne last Thursday (Dec. 5), Schwertner paced the Terriers with 18 points and seven rebounds while sharing the team lead with four steals. Eight of her points came in the fourth quarter on 4-of-6 shooting as her 12 second-half points helped BU overcome a 13-point deficit for its first road win in the 2024-25 slate.
Having started in all seven games this year, Schwertner is second on the team with 10.3 points per game and leads BU with 42 rebounds and 15 steals. Her 2.1 steals per contest is the most among Patriot League forwards, slotting in fourth overall.
BU hosts its final home game of the semester when it welcomes UAlbany to Case Gym on Tuesday (Dec. 10). Opening tip is set for 6 p.m.
