No. 3 Terriers Travel to New Hampshire Friday Night

The No. 3 Boston University men's ice hockey team will head to Whittemore Center on Friday night to face New Hampshire on ESPN+ and TSN+. Puck drop is scheduled for for 7 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • Friday marks a quick turnaround for the Terriers, as they fell in overtime to Northeastern, 4-3, on Tuesday night.
  • Freshman Macklin Celebrini, sophomore Quinn Hutson and sophomore Ryan Greene each notched a goal and an assist against the Huskies while sophomore Lane Hutson added two assists.
  • Sophomore Jeremy Wilmer joined Lane in notching his 20th assist of the season on Tuesday; Lane leads BU in that category with 21 helpe
  • Celebrini and Lane Hutson have been nominated for the 2024 Hobey Baker Award, presented annually to the top player in Division I men's college hockey.
  • Celebrini, who was also named to the National Rookie of the Year Watch list on Thursday, ranks fourth overall and first among NCAA rookies with 1.59 points per game.
  • He has tallied 35 points (18g, 17a) in 22 games, which is tied for second in Hockey East, tied for second among national rookies and tied for fourth overall in the country.
  • Hutson is second among all NCAA defensemen with 10 goals and is tied for fourth among NCAA defensemen (first in HE) with 31 points.
  • He has averaged an incredible 1.29 points per game in his career, which is far and away best in college hockey.
  • Greene has recorded four points (1g, 3a) in his last two games and has notched a point in six of his last eight contests.
  • That includes three multi-point efforts in his last five appearances.

SERIES HISTORY

  • The Terriers and Wildcats have played 192 times since the 1924-25 season, and BU holds a decided advantage, 118-53-21 (.669).
  • That includes an 18-12-6 (.583) record at Whittemore Center. 
  • BU had a 12-game win streak and a 16-game unbeaten streak against the Wildcats snapped in October; the Terriers are now 15-1-2 in their last 18 contests against the Wildcats.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS

  • UNH is 2-2-0 since its 3-0 loss to BU on Jan. 13, including a weekend split at Vermont on Jan. 26-27.
  • The Wildcats dropped the first game, 2-1, before responding with a 6-3 win on Saturday night.
  • Freshman Ryan Conmy scored his team-leading 12th goal of the season and junior Colton Huard recorded his team-best 13th assist in that 6-3 triumph.
  • Conmy leads UNH with 24 points thanks to 12 assists.
  • BU has faced two different Wildcat goaltenders this season.
  • Junior Jakob Hellsten, who stopped 23 of the 25 shots he faced in the 3-0 BU win on Jan. 13,, is 8-5-1 this season with a 1.72 GAA and a .923 save percentage.
  • Sophomore Tyler Muszelik, who made 20 saves in the Wildcats' 6-4 win over BU in October, is 5-3-0 in eight starts, including Saturday's 6-3 victory at Vermont.
  • He has posted a 3.38 goals-against average and an .874 save percentage
