February 20, 2024 | Men's Tennis
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After posting a perfect combined 4-0 record in singles and doubles play, Boston University men's tennis sophomore Corey Craig has earned his third straight Patriot League Player of the Week award, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.
A native of Coconut Creek, Florida, Craig becomes the first PL player to three-peat since 2016. The reigning PL Rookie of the Year went 2-0 at both No. 1 singles and No. 3 doubles to earn his fourth overall weekly award.
This past Friday, Craig teamed with classmate Jakob Esterowitz for a 6-1 victory over Bryant. He then cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 win against the Bulldogs' Otakar Ungerman in the top singles slot.
On Saturday, he had arguably his most impressive singles win of the dual season with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over St. John's Francisco Bascon, a former two-time Big Sky Tournament MVP and three-time All-Big Sky First Team honoree at Idaho. In doubles, Craig and Esterowitz edged the Red Storm, 7-6(2).
The Terriers will next take to the courts this coming Saturday (Feb. 24) with a doubleheader. They will first face Adelphi at Fore Court in Cumberland, Rhode Island, with a 12:45 p.m. start time and then take on Assumption at the Waltham Athletic Club in Waltham, Massachusetts, with doubles set to begin at 6:45 p.m.
