Terriers Earn Best PL Finish in Eight Years; Cameron Repeats as Diver of the Year

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Boston University women's swimming & diving team posted its best Patriot League finish in eight years, placing third at the conference meet with senior Sumi Cameron earning Diver of the Meet honors for the second consecutive year.
The Terriers posted 946 points, 83 clear of fourth-place Bucknell, to reach the top three for the first time since 2016. Brad Snodgrass repeated as the Women's Diving Coach of the Year as Cameron (1-meter) and junior Sophia Souza (3-meter) each successfully defended their titles from 2023 and Cameron added a runner-up finish in the 3-meter.
Saturday evening was highlighted by senior Lara Mitchell taking fourth in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:57.50, topping her school record by .4 seconds. She closed out the night by anchoring a silver-medal finish by the 400-yard freestyle relay with sophomore Stella Langenbach, freshman Han Hoang and sophomore Sydney Sorbello, posting a time of 3:21.88.
BU was the only team to have two swimmers in the A final of the 100-yard freestyle on Saturday as Hoang (50.46) and Langenbach (50.70) placed fourth and sixth, respectively.
Sophomore Haley Newman took fifth in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 1:59.98 and senior Ava Berzanski swam a 2:21.13 in the 200-yard breaststroke to earn a 12th-place finish.
Sorbello had a 14th-place finish in the 200 back (2:03.51) while junior Alex Pastushan (200 back) and senior Clarissa Hoyt (200 breast) won their respective C finals.
Freshman Izzy Valantiejus was the Terriers' top performer in the 1650-yard freestyle, taking 14th place in a time of 17:18.12.
