Lightweight Rowing Wins Pair of Races Against Radcliffe and MIT
April 20, 2024 | Women's Lightweight Rowing
BOSTON – Highlighted by a pair of victories, the Boston University lightweight rowing team raced against rivals Harvard-Radcliffe and MIT in rainy conditions Saturday morning on the Charles River.
The Terriers prevailed in both the doubles and fours in impressive fashion before coming up short to Radcliffe in the Varsity 8 race with the Beanpot on the line.
BU's duo of Zoe Meurer and Alanna Hoffman won the first race with a time of 8:24.7, edging out Kylie Lough and Caroline Burchette by three seconds. Radcliffe's lone boat took third at 9:00.1.
In the Varsity 4 race, BU's boat coxed by Rayna Kuthiala and stroked by Nina Palmer posted a winning time of 7:46.1, defeating Radcliffe by six seconds.
Radcliffe though would gain possession of the Beanpot by pulling away at the midway point of the Varsity 8 race. They finished seven seconds ahead of the Terriers' boat coxed by Heather Shinn and stroked by Maecy Rickman (7:02.1 - 7:09.2) to snap BU's streak of six consecutive victories in the event. MIT placed third at 7:21.3.
