LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Boston University track & field team is prepped to compete in the NCAA East First Round this week at the University of Kentucky. Seven Terriers made the field for the regional event as they will rep the arched Boston in distance, jumps and throws from Wednesday through Saturday.

Graduate student
Foster Malleck is set to make his third appearance at regionals in the 1,500m on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Malleck finished 30th at the 2023 regionals with a time of 3:47.57. His top time this season ranks 22nd in the East with a 3:40.72 ran at the Wake Forest Invitational. The Kitchener, Ont., native will also make his first regional appearance in the 5,000m on Friday at 8:10 p.m. thanks to his qualifying time of 13:48.80 ran at the Raleigh Relays, currently 40th in the East.

Cole Tucker makes his regionals debut in the shot put. His qualifying mark of 18.26m (59' 11") is 35th in the East and was thrown at the Skyhawk Invitational. Tucker will compete Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

Sophomore
Ellie Roan also takes her first trip to the regional meet to compete in the hammer throw. Her throw of 59.01m (193' 7") ranks 37th in the East and is second in BU history. She recorded that mark at the Patriot League Championships which led to her gold-medal performance in the event. Roan will enter the throwing circle at 10 a.m. on Thursday.Â

Fellow sophomore
Vera Sjöberg makes her second consecutive trip to the regional meet to compete in the 1,500m and 5,000m. The sophomore set the school record in the event this season with a 4:13.77 at the Wake Forest Invitational which ranks 29th in the East. Her time of 16:05.44 in the 5,000m at the Raleigh Relays helped her punch her ticket to the event for the second time. In 2023, Sjöberg ran 16:06.92 in the 5,000m to place 17th in her regional debut. Her 1,500m race will take place Thursday at 6:30 p.m. while her 5,000m will run at 8:10 p.m. on Saturday.

Sophomore
Peace Omonzane will compete in both the long and triple jumps in her first career regionals. She ranks 20th in the East in the long jump with a mark of 6.27m (20' 7") set at the South Florida Invitational. Her triple jump mark of 12.89m (42' 3.5") from the same meet is 23rd in the East. The junior is second in the BU record books in the long jump and is tied for third in triple. She will compete in the long jump on Thursday at 6 p.m. and in the long jump on Saturday at 6 p.m.

Asia Hamilton takes her first trip to the regional meet to compete in the high jump. She cleared 1.78m (5' 10") at the UConn Dog Fight to set the 21st-ranked mark in the East. Hamilton recently placed second in the high jump at the Patriot League Championships. She will jump at 2 p.m. on Saturday.Â

Joining Malleck in the 5,000m on Saturday and making his regional debut is sophomore
Freddy Collins. He ran 13:45.41 at the Raleigh Relays to set the 28th best time in the East this season. Collins' time is also the fourth-fastest mark in BU history.
