Returning for a 16th year, the Terrier Twelve recognizes the top achievements of Boston University teams and student-athletes from the previous year. In 2023-24, over half of BU's teams either won a conference title or finished runner-up at their league championship, and all of those programs will be represented in the countdown. Check back each Tuesday and Friday this summer as we unveil this year's Terrier Twelve onÂ

Â
During the cross country season, freshman

Matthew Mason was named to the Second Team All-Patriot League, making him the ninth athlete in league history and second in BU history to collect All-Patriot League honors four times. Academically, sophomore
Vera Sjöberg was named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Â
Sjöberg continued to dominate throughout the track & field seasons, winning a combined five individual Patriot League titles and sweeping Track Athlete of the Meet accolades for the indoor and outdoor seasons. Her sweep of the mile, 3,000m and 5,000m indoor titles made her the highest points scorer and marked the first time in BU history someone swept the event titles at the meet. She was named the Scholar-Athlete for indoor and set a school record in the 1,000m during the regular season.Â
Â
Sjöberg added another school record to her name when she ran 4:13.77 in the 1,500m at Wake Forest. At the outdoor Patriot League Championships, she won her second consecutive 1,500m title and tacked on a 5,000m gold. Sjöberg concluded her season when she competed in both the 1,500m and 5,000m at the NCAA East First Round.

Additionally, she won the outdoor triple jump title and qualified for her first NCAA East First Round in both long and triple jump.Â
Â
Junior

She took that momentum into the Patriot League Championships and won the event for her first league title. Roan picked up another league gold outdoors in the hammer throw before making her NCAA East First Round debut in the event.Â
Â
Graduate student
Foster Malleck made his mark in the indoor season with a school record time of 3:55.80 in the mile. He went on to win the mile at the Patriot League Championships and helped BU to second in both the 4x800m and distance medley relays.
