HOW IT HAPPENED
- Each side had a chance in the fourth minute. Braun had trouble snagging a cross that hit the post, forcing senior Allison Hanlon and junior Morgan Weaver to clear. Schultz then shot a shot blocked on the Terrier counter.
- The Catamounts broke the ice moments later, however. BU couldn't clear on the near sideline, and Brody crossed the ball from the right corner, helping Ayer bury a shot past a diving Braun.
- BU generated four shots within a three-minute span, starting in the ninth minute. Among those opportunities, graduate student Lily Matthews' 18-yard shot zipped just outside the right post, junior Giulianna Gianino's 20-yard free kick rang off the right post, and senior Eileen Solomon's header was scooped up by Carafoli.
- Braun made two saves in the 14th and 17th minute, lining up Brody's shot in the former, then gripping Amelia Adiutori's header off a corner kick.
- In the 32nd minute, Lauren DeGroot escaped the Terrier back line for a 1-on-1 chance against Braun. Braun extended her fingertips to send the ball wide left.
- Brown's equalizer came in the 38th minute, when she blasted her corner kick to the far post. Carafoli tipped the ball with her fingers, but couldn't leap high enough to prevent the ball from sailing into the net.
- Warren regained the Catamount lead in the 53rd minute, 2-1, when she shifted to her right to blast a 20-yard shot over a jumping freshman Bridget Carr towards the top-right corner of the goal.
- In the 66th minute, Porta ignited a counter and passed off the ball to Schultz, who operated down the left sideline. The latter zipped a ball on Carafoli, who couldn't handle the shot, leading to Porta depositing the rebound to knot the match at 2-2.
- BU nearly took its first lead of the day in the 73rd minute, when sophomore Ava Maguire ran towards the left end line and ricocheted a shot off the near post.
- With just 4:15 remaining in regulation, Sydney Remington received a pass near the top-right corner of the penalty box and whipped a shot on Carr, who dove to make the save.
- Porta had one final chance to win it for the Terriers with 29 seconds left, but her shot narrowly went wide right of the right post.
- BU held a 19-13 edge in shots, though Vermont had eight shots on goal to the Terriers' four.
- Each team generated six corner kicks. Ten of the game's 12 corners occurred in the first half.
- Each team sustained one yellow card.
- Gianino and Solomon were the lone Terriers to play all 90 minutes. Overall, 22 Terriers appeared in the contest.
- Carr entered the game for Braun in the second half, making one save.
- Brown scored her second-career goal, and first since Sept. 7, 2023 against Maine.
- Porta's tally was her fourth as a Terrier. She has scored all four goals in her last 10 games, dating back to last season.
- The junior class has accounted for all five Terrier goals in 2024, with Gianino supplying the other three.
- Schultz recorded her first collegiate point on Porta's goal.
- Carr and classmate Olivia Avellar made their collegiate debuts on Sunday.
- BU's unbeaten streak against Vermont improves to 10 games, as the all-time series moves to 14-2-3.
- BU returns to Nickerson Field for a two-game homestand, hosting UConn for Terrier Tailgate on Sunday (Sept. 1). Opening kick is slated for 4 p.m.
