BOSTON - The opening night of a two-game series between the No. 1 Boston University men's ice hockey team and the No. 3/4 Michigan State Spartans at Agganis Arena on Friday, Oct. 17, will be nationally televised on ESPN2, as announced on Monday.
That game, last scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on ESPNU, will now be played at 7 p.m. to accommodate the move to ESPN2. The two teams will conclude the weekend set on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. Both contests will be available for streaming on ESPN+.
This will be the first time since Oct. 24, 2014, that BU and Michigan State will have met, with the Terriers earning a 1-0 win over the Spartans at Agganis. BU is 2-0-0 all-time at Agganis against Michigan State, with the Terriers defeating the Spartans, 2-1, to claim the 2008 Ice Breaker title. The Terriers own a 9-8-0 edge over Michigan State in the all-time series.
The Terriers were named the top-ranked team in the USCHO and USA Hockey national polls on Oct. 13, marking the first time they've been the consensus No. 1 since Jan. 22, 2024.
