NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Boston University men's tennis team wrapped up the ITA Regional Championships on Friday at Yale.
Senior
Jakob Esterowitz won his first match in the main draw, defeating his opponent from Boston College 6-2, 6-2. In the round of 32, he faced the top seed in the tournament and fell 6-3, 6-0.
In the qualifiying round of 64 on Thursday, the Terriers had a tough draw at singles with all three falling in straight sets to their opponents. Junior
Adrian Quiros had the closest of the three matches, falling 3-6, 6-7 (5) in a tightly battled contest against his opponent from Fairfield.
Jim-On came away with a win in the qualifying consolation round later that day, defeating an opponent from Le Moyne 6-3, 6-2. Junior
Andrew Andea went 1-2 on the weekend, taking a 6-1, 6-4 win in an extra match over his opponent from Colgate.
In doubles, senior
Jakob Esterowitz and sophomore
Payton Jim-On competed against their Boston College opponents for all 14 games of their pro set, but ultimately dropped it 6-8.
Next, the Terriers will head to the ITA Patriot League Conference Masters Qualifier hosted by Lehigh beginning Friday, Oct. 24.
