BOSTON – The No. 13 Boston University women's ice hockey team opens its season with a pair of games against No. 3 Minnesota on Friday, Oct. 3, and Saturday, Oct. 4, at Walter Brown Arena. Puck drop on Friday is set for 6 p.m. while Saturday's game will begin at 4 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU recently skated to a 4-4 tie and a 2-0 shootout win against Concordia in a preseason exhibition game at Walter Brown.
- Seniors Clara Yuhn and Luisa Welcke, sophomore Lola Reid and freshman Lexie Bertelsen all found the back of the net in regulation.
- Six individual Terriers made assists in seniors Maeve Kelly and Lilli Welcke, junior Neely Nicholson, sophomore Keira Healey and freshmen Mia Vergilii and Anežka Čabelová. K. Healey was the lone Terrier to record multiple assists with two.
- In the shootout, both Lu. Welcke and Bertelsen scored to secure the shootout win.
- Junior Mari Pietersen, graduate student Michelle Pasiechnyk and freshman Jackie Wright each played one period with Wright manning the posts in overtime and the shootout.
- Senior Maeve Carey is serving as captain for the 2025-26 season.
- Seniors Sydney Healey, Kelly and Yuhn are assistant captains.
- BU is No. 13 in the USCHO and USA Hockey polls this week after starting the preseason as No. 11 in both polls.
- In the Hockey East Coaches Preseason Poll, BU was picked to finish second overall.
- The Terriers have 10 newcomers in seven freshmen and three transfers.
- S. Healey returns as BU's top points scorer with 23 last year. She also leads all returners in goals with 15.
- S. Healey and Yuhn are the returning leaders in power-play goals with three apiece.
- Li. Welcke brings back the most assists after registering 12 last season.
- Kelly blocked 29 shots in 2024-25, the most of all returners.
- Pietersen is BU's lone returning goaltender and was between the posts for 10 contests last season, which included two shutouts.
- Pasiechnyk transferred after four seasons with Clarkson and was named the NCAA Goaltender of the Year in 2023-24. She made 750 saves that season and boasted a 25-5-1 record.

SERIES HISTORY
- BU is 1-7-0 all time against Minnesota with a home record of 1-1.
- BU last faced Minnesota in October of 2024 out in Minneapolis. The Terriers dropped both contests, losing 1-0 and 5-2 when Minnesota was ranked No. 2 in the nation.
- Lu. Welcke and senior Riley Walsh scored in the 5-2 loss last year, while Reid earned one of BU's two assists.
- Pietersen was in between the posts for one of the games, making 20 saves against the Gophers.
- The last time BU defeated Minnesota was in December of 2016 in a 6-5 overtime thriller at Walter Brown Arena.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN GOPHERS
- Minnesota opened the season with a pair of wins over Boston College at home, entering this weekend with a 2-0-0 record.
- The Gophers scored a combined 18 goals against the Eagles, winning 7-1 and 11-0.
- Graduate student Abbey Murphy scored four goals and registered five assists in the series and currently leads Minnesota in points with nine.
- Senior Sydney Morrow, junior Molly Jordan and freshmen Bella Fanale and Tereza Plosova all scored multiple times.
- Fourteen different Gophers made assists in the series with junior Ava Lindsay collecting six of the 31 made.
- The Gophers scored three power-play goals on seven chances.
- Sophomore netminder Hannah Clark made nine saves in the 7-1 win while freshman goaltender Layla Hemp made 25 saves in the 11-0 shutout.
