November 12, 2025 | Men's Basketball
BOSTON – Boosted by 13 3-pointers, the Boston University men's basketball team opened the home schedule with a 90-77 wire-to-wire victory over Brown Wednesday night at Case Gym.
The Terriers (2-1) started off hot on the offensive end and never cooled down, shooting 58.8 percent from the field and 89.5 percent at the charity stripe. They started the contest on a 13-0 run and prevented the Bears (0-3) from ever cutting the deficit into single digits in the programs' first meeting in 32 years.
All five BU starters finished in double figures with junior Michael McNair totaling 18 points, six assists, five rebounds and three steals. Both McNair and freshman Sam Hughes went an identical 4-for-7 from behind the arc, while senior Ben Roy flushed three of his four attempts en route to 14 points alongside five assists. Sophomore Ben Defty also delivered a strong all-around performance in the paint, posting 15 points, seven rebounds, six assists and two blocks with freshman Chance Gladden adding 14 points, five assists and five rebounds in a game-high 35 minutes of action.
For the Bears, Isaiah Langham came off the bench to tally a game-high 20 points with an 8-for-8 performance at the charity stripe. Both Adrian Uchidiuno (14 pts.) and Luke Paragon (11 pts.) also finished in double figures, while Jeremiah Jenkins added eight points and six assists. Brown nearly doubled its shooting percentage from 34.6 FG% in the first half to 59.3 FG% during the second, but was unable to mount a big enough rally down the stretch.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Defty won the jumpball and shortly thereafter found Roy for a 3-pointer that was quickly followed by a defensive stop and Hughes' 3-pointer.
- Gladden converted on his steal with two free throws and added a jumper on Defty's assist to give the Terriers a double-digit lead for the rest of the game.
- McNair added a pair of buckets from behind the arc to extend the lead to 18-4 at 15:13 and four minutes later drove to the hoop for a 27-10 advantage on the scoreboard.
- Sophomore Azmar Abdullah took Defty's pass and scored in 3-point territory for BU's largest lead of the contest, 34-13, with 8:25 remaining.
- Owning a 40-20 lead on McNair's steal and Gladden's slam dunk at 5:21, the Terriers and Bears traded buckets the rest of the half with BU entering the locker room ahead, 48-31, on 61.5 percent shooting.
- Both squads shot over 50 percent in a fast-paced second half that saw the Bears pull within 11 (52-41) at 15:36 on Langham's layup.
- After Abdullah nailed his second trey at 13:04 for a 59-41 lead, Brown chipped away and cut the deficit to 71-60 on Uchidiuno's layup at 6:48 and three minutes after to 85-75 on Jenkins' 3-pointer.
- Neither team scored another point until McNair netted a 3-pointer with 1:42 left for 88-75 lead, and Defty added an emphatic slam dunk on BU's final possession to reach 90 points.
- The Terriers' 23 assists marked the most against an NCAA Division I opponent since tallying 23 at UMass Lowell on Dec. 21, 2016. Coincidentally, BU last accomplished the feat at home against UMass Lowell with 23 helpers on Nov. 13, 2013.
- Both Hughes and Gladden earned their first career starts, as BU used its third different starting lineup in three games due in part to six Terriers sitting out due to injury.
- With both Gladden and Roy reaching a season-high 14 points apiece, BU now has six Terriers who've scored in double digits this season.
- The Terriers won the battle at the boards, 31-22, and edged the Bears in second-chance points, 16-14, while finishing tied in points in the paint, 32-32.
- BU improved to 13-25 all-time in a series that saw that the teams last compete in a home-and-away series in 1992-93. Brown won those two games after BU prevailed in the previous contest in 1970 at home, 72-69.
- The Terriers will conclude the homestand by hosting Merrimack on Saturday (Nov. 15) at 1 p.m.
- BU leads the all-time series, 10-1, after the Warriors held on for a 64-61 victory at home last year.
- BU is 7-0 all-time on campus, last earning a 74-63 victory in 2023.
