HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both sides traded 7-0 runs throughout the first quarter. Senior Alex Giannaros' layup and three-pointer pushed BU's lead to 9-4, only for Smith's jumper to cap Navy's run for an 11-9 lead.
- Adler cashed in the Terriers' first two baskets in the second quarter, then Ericksen nailed a right-wing three-pointer to hand the Terriers a 17-15 advantage with just over three minutes down in the frame.
- However, the Mids ripped off an extended 16-3 run over a 4:14 span, with eight points coming from Smith, to go up 31-20. Navy would establish a 35-22 halftime lead.
- Barnett-Gay made a layup 10 seconds into the second half, but BU's defense didn't allow a Navy field goal for the next five minutes. Ericksen's three and a left-block layup from sophomore Aoibhe Gormley pulled BU within single digits, 39-32.
- Gormley then floated a pass to Adler for a layup underneath the rim with 10 seconds on the timer in the third quarter to pull the Terriers within 46-38 to cap the stanza.
- Neither side scored in the fourth quarter until Barnett-Gay's second-chance layup with 6:34 on the timer, replenishing the double-digit Navy lead at 48-38.
- Gormley canned a left-wing three-pointer with 2:07 left in regulation for BU's first but only field goal in the fourth quarter to close the gap to 57-46, but scored just one point the rest of the way.
- The Terriers made 32 percent of their shots, while the Mids shot 35 percent from the field.
- Navy won the rebounding battle, 44-36, including 19-13 on the offensive glass.
- Sophomore Sisi Bentley paced the Terriers with nine caroms and three blocks.
- The Mids generated 17 points off 14 Terrier turnovers.
- Navy led the game for 30:38.
- Adler recorded her fifth straight game in double figures. She is averaging 12.4 points in her last seven contests.
- Ericksen nailed three three-pointers for the second time in her last three appearances. Wednesday marked her 12th career game with 10-plus points.
- Scoring six points in her 100th career start, Giannaros moved into sixth place on the Terriers' all-time scoring list, passing BU Athletic Hall of Famer Andrea Ashuck '89. She now has 1,352 career points.
- The all-time series shifts back to Navy's favor, 12-11. The Mids swept the regular season series for the first time since 2018.
- No. 8-seed BU hosts ninth-ranked Loyola Maryland at Case Gym in the first round of the Patriot League Tournament on Saturday, March 8. Opening tip is set for 2 p.m.
