BOSTON – The Boston University lightweight rowing program closed out its final spring race on the Charles River this season with a first-place finish in the Varsity 8+ to capture the Beanpot title on Saturday morning over Harvard-Radcliffe and MIT.
 
BU won the Beanpot for the seventh time in the last eight iterations after Radcliffe took home the trophy in 2024. The Terriers, coxed by Mayberry Mark and stroked by Mia Seibert, rushed off the stakeboats and immediately claimed a lead it wouldn't relinquish. Expanding its lead halfway through despite multiple Radcliffe charges, BU placed first by a half-length of open water in 7:03.5, over five seconds in front of Radcliffe.
 
In the Varsity 4+, coxed by Heather Shinn and stroked by Rosa Beckert, BU and Radcliffe went bow to bow since the opening meters. Radcliffe made one last push in the final 500 meters and gained multiple seats to cross first by nearly a full length. The Terriers were across in 8:12.6.
 
BU returned to the win column in the Double with Emilia Vukasinovic (bow) and Cece Mason (stroke). After adjusting its angle from the opening 500 meters, BU kept Radcliffe at bay with a strong final quarter of the race to place first in 8:36.6. Radcliffe clocked in at 8:41.1.
 
The day wrapped with the Varsity 4+ "B" race for BU, coxed by Mira Saldanha and stroked by Jasmine Wu. Radcliffe gained the lead over the Terriers after the first quarter of the race, and an unfortunate oar lock malfunction slowed the Terriers near the 1500-meter mark. BU would place third in 9:12.2, ahead of MIT's crew and behind Brown's 8:58.4.
 
BU turns its attention to a cross-country road trip, sending three crews to Stanford for races on Sunday, April 27 at Redwood Shores.
