BOSTON – Opening its 77th season, the Boston University men's soccer team will start off the non-conference slate at New Hampshire Thursday with the ESPN+ broadcast slated for 3 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU returns 15 of the 20 goals scored from last year's 4-4-10 squad that claimed the program's second consecutive Patriot League regular season title with a 4-1-4 conference mark. The Terriers were 2-2-4 on the road compared to the 2-2-6 home record.
  • In total, 10 of the 15 Terriers who earned at least one point are back.
  • 2024 All-PL First Team honoree and junior Andrea Di Blasio totaled a team-high four goals with an assist, while PL Defensive Player of the Year and senior Quin DeLaMater recorded three goals with three assists for nine points as well.
  • Selected alongside DeLaMater to repeat as a major award winner by the PL coaches, reigning Midfielder of the Year and senior Diego Rived also had three assists last season with a goal.
  • Two of the returning goalkeepers saw action in 2024 with seniors Ben Alexander and Sheraz Saadat posting identical 0-1-2 records. Alexander posted a season-high five saves during a 1-1 draw against Saint Mary's, while Saadat matched that total in an identical 1-1 draw against Boston College.
  • The Terriers welcomed 10 newcomers this year, including transfers in senior Ethan Gill (Holy Cross), junior Lapo Romieri (Bridgeport), sophomore Pharis Petrica (Central Arkansas) and sophomore Jack Grossman (Syracuse).
  • Last season, BU averaged 0.7 more shots, while opponents earned an 85-69 advantage in corner kicks.
  • Overall, the Terriers are 2-1-2 in season openers under head coach Kevin Nylen, including last year's 0-0 home draw against New Hampshire.
SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE
  • The Wildcats went 7-3-7 and 4-1-2 in conference play last season with a 4-2-2 home record that included a 1-0 loss to then-No. 12 Western Michigan.
  • Terry Makedika is the top returner on the offensive end with six points (2g,2a) following the graduations of Matthew Goncalves (10g,2a) and Ibrahim Conde (7g,3a).
  • UNH has three goalkeepers who did not see action last season with two transfers in Claudio Fuentealba (Mid-America Christian University) and Scott Williams (Virginia).
  • UNH recorded 2.7 more shots per game with a 72-53 advantage in corner kicks.
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU owns a 24-23-10 edge against UNH in a series dating back to 1966.
  • Last season, the teams battled to a scoreless draw at Nickerson Field with the then-No. 9 Wildcats posting a 10-1 advantage in shot attempts and 9-0 lead in corner kicks.
  • The teams split each of the last two meetings at Wildcat Stadium in 2022 and 2023.
  • After the Terriers upset the Wildcats in 2022 with a 1-0 victory, UNH pulled out a 2-1 win the following year.
  • The teams were members of the America East together from 1987-2012 before BU joined the Patriot League in the summer of 2013.
LOOKING AHEAD
  • BU will visit defending national champion and current No. 1 nationally-ranked Vermont on Sunday (Aug. 24) at 1 p.m.
  • The two former America East rivals will face off for the first time since they battled to a scoreless draw in 2012.
  • The Terriers earned a 1-0 road victory in 2011.
