HOW IT HAPPENED
- UMass Lowell struck following an 18th-minute corner kick. BU had issues clearing the volley by the far post, and Banzi found Jaen's noggin to push the ball past a diving Shobeiri.
- Prouty nearly tied the game in the 30th minute when she bolted to the box, but had a shot blocked. Stickelman then found the loose ball and lifted a 25-yard shot wide left.
- In the 34th minute, Gianino's shot following a quick corner kick insert was blocked. Avellar maintained possession and dumped off a pass for Prouty, who shook off two River Hawks and deflected her try off another marker and into the lower-right corner for the equalizer.
- Shobeiri made her first save in the 49th minute, corralling a try from Marissa Sage.
- Stickelman headed a ball towards the net off a corner kick, but didn't have enough velocity on the try. BU earned another corner in the 52nd, and Gianino's insert found Stickelman's head again in a similar spot in the box, this time bouncing past Welch for a 2-1 Terrier lead.
- After UMass Lowell had a shot carom off the right post in the 58th minute, Theoren and Hertz-Saebbo connected with Marceau, who beat Shobeiri to level the score at 2-2 three minutes later.
- Prouty nearly secured the brace in the 67th minute with a 20-yard rocket near the left corner of the box, but Welch leaped to send the ball over the crossbar.
- Five minutes after that, senior Helene Tyburczy's try was blocked inside the box. Prouty then attempted a shot that sailed high.
- BU's last shot came from Avellar's boot in the 86th minute, a 25-yard opportunity that curled wide left. The Terrier defense then withstood multiple off-target River Hawk shots.
- UMass Lowell sported a 16-15 advantage in shots, though BU had the 5-4 edge in shots on target.
- Prouty led the Terriers with five shots, three of which were on target.
- The Terriers generated a season high seven corner kicks.
- Each team was assessed one yellow card.
- Six Terriers played the full 90 minutes: Stickelman, Gianino, Shobeiri, Tyburczy, sophomore Alli Powderly and freshman Nina Tzouganatos.
- Prouty returned to the starting XI and buried her second goal of the season, matching Stickelman for second on the team.
- Stickelman's goal was her sixth as a Terrier. All six have been scored in the second half.
- Gianino now has four assists in 2025, most in the Patriot League as of writing.
- Avellar's assist was her first since Oct. 12, 2024 at Lafayette, and first point since Oct. 30 vs. Army West Point.
- The all-time series between BU and UMass Lowell now stands at 2-1-2.
- BU concludes its five-game road swing with a trek across the Mass. Pike to Harvard on Thursday (Sept. 11). Opening kick is scheduled for 7 p.m.
