
Terriers Take Down Merrimack, 5-2

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Boston University men's tennis team (3-5) defeated Merrimack, 5-2, on Friday evening at the Willows Racquet Club.
In doubles, sophomore Payton Jim-On and freshman David Asenov posted a 6-3 win at the top of the lineup to get things started. Merrimack would win at lines three and two, respectively, to secure the doubles point for the Warriors.
BU did not let its doubles woes get in the way as it rolled right into singles. Junior Adrian Quiros was first to finish at the No. 3 spot, winning 6-3, 6-2. Jim-On was next, posting a 6-2, 6-2 win at the No. 2 spot. Sophomore Andrew Andea defeated his opponent 7-5, 6-3, to give BU a 3-1 lead in the match. Asenov sealed the victory for the Terriers with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 win at the top of the lineup, giving BU its third win of the season.
Play continued on the remaining courts with sophomore Ege Topkoc finishing next. He was up 6-2, 5-7, 3-2 when his Merrimack opponent retired. The Warriors won at line six to earn their second point of the night, bringing the final score to BU 5, Merrimack 2.
BU will face SNHU on Sunday (Feb. 22) at the Track & Tennis Center for senior day. First serve is set for 9 a.m.
