March 16, 2026 | Softball
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After helping the Boston University softball team win all six games played, senior pitcher Kasey Ricard, junior outfielder Kyie Doherty and freshman outfielder Irys Kline swept the Patriot League weekly honors, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Ricard tied a Patriot League record with her 16th career PL Pitcher of the Week award, while the Player of the Week Doherty and the Rookie of the Week Kline both garnered their second awards of the season. The three Terriers all played key roles in guiding BU to two wins apiece against defending Ivy League champion Brown, Quinnipiac and UMass Lowell by a dominating combined score of 61-4.
A native of Littleton, Massachusetts, Ricard posted a 4-0 record with one save, a 0.00 ERA and 25 strikeouts recorded over 24.0 innings of work. She started off the week tallying nine strikeouts against one walk and five hits allowed in a 7-0 win over the Bobcats. After pitching three scoreless innings in a 7-3 victory against the River Hawks for her seventh career save, she pitched a pair of one-hit shutouts against UML and Brown on Sunday. Recipient of her third Pitcher of the Week honor this season, she is now tied with Lehigh's Lisa Sweeney ('09) for the all-time record of 16 earned Pitcher of the Week awards.
Doherty put her impressive power on display with a homer against both Brown and UMass Lowell to increase her season total to 10 and career mark at 30, two shy of tying the program record. The Bolton, Massachusetts, native claimed her second Player of the Week award and third overall by batting .563 with a team-high 11 RBIs and 11 runs scored alongside five walks for an impressive .667 on-base percentage. During Saturday's 17-0 (5) win against Brown, she went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and three runs scored followed by a 2-for-2 performance in the rematch with the Bears in a 9-0 (5) decision.
Kline earned her second Rookie of the Week honor by batting .500 with a team-high six walks for a stellar .684 on-base percentage. Overall, she went 6-for-12 with five RBIs and four runs scored. The Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, native started off with two RBIs in game one against Quinnipiac and then with the help of a triple and two walks scored two runs in the second contest for a doubleheader sweep. She later went a combined 3-for-5 during the two wins over UML with an RBI and run scored.
The Terriers will next conclude an eight-game homestand by hosting Stonehill in a doubleheader on Wednesday (March 18) starting at 2 p.m.
