BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A day after collecting her third Patriot League Pitcher of the Year award, Boston University softball senior Kasey Ricard repeated as the Scholar-Athlete of the Year, as announced by the conference office Wednesday afternoon.
Ricard also earned her third Academic All-PL honor, while classmate Megan Coyle collected her second. They along with senior Haley Ganino and junior Kylie Doherty helped BU tie a program best with four honorees after the 2023 squad first accomplished the feat.
A native of Littleton, Massachusetts, Ricard is just the second PL player to garner Scholar-Athlete of the Year recognition in back-to-back seasons after Lehigh infielder Jen Colquhourn ('12) last claimed three straight. Majoring in health science with a minor in biology and 3.90 GPA, Ricard wrapped up the regular season with an NCAA-high 30 wins against six losses. She also totaled an NCAA-leading 13 shutouts alongside 215 strikeouts.
Coyle (Herndon, Virginia) posted a team-high 3.98 GPA majoring in political science and batted a personal-best .343 to earn All-PL Second Team honors on Tuesday. She also totaled 11 homers, 11 doubles, 44 runs scored and 55 RBIs. Previously named PL Pitcher of the Week for the first time, Ganino (Azusa, California) posted an 8-2 record and held opponents to a .261 batting average. She claimed her first PL award at the end of a regular season thanks to a 3.89 GPA while majoring in biology.
Doherty (Bolton, Massachusetts) also earned her first career Academic All-PL award by recording a 3.41 GPA and majoring in political with a minor in business administration and management. The 2026 PL Player of the Year finished the regular season ranked No. 2 nationally with 83 RBIs, 28 more than the previous BU record, and 24 homers, 10 more than the previous mark.
The top-seeded and PL tournament host Terriers will next open the double-elimination event against No. 4 Lafayette on Thursday (May 7) with a 12 p.m. first pitch. No. 2 Colgate and No. 3 Army West Point will follow at 2:30 p.m.
