Track & Field Prepped for Patriot League Outdoor Championships at Navy

BOSTON – The Boston University men's and women's track & field teams travel to Navy for the Patriot League Championships this weekend. Competition begins on Friday (May 16) at 9 a.m. and Saturday (May 17) at 9 a.m.

- Entering the championships, BU owns 13 of the current top two marks in the league across multiple events.
- Six Terriers have top marks in the league headed into the championships: Zachary Cox (100m), Jada Smith (100m), Freddy Collins (5000m), Kendall Barnhart (400m hurdles), Peace Omonzane (long jump, triple jump) and Ellie Roan (hammer).
- Six Terriers have the second-best mark in the league as well: Ijeoma Ezechukwu (100m, 200m), Cox (200m), Adrienne Buettner-Cable (5000m, 10000m), Micah Perry (110m hurdles) and Roan (discus).
- The Terriers have seven returners from the 2025 All-Patriot League First Team: Lily Borin (4x800m), Olivia Dodds (4x800m), Peace Omonzane (long jump, triple jump), Ellie Roan (hammer throw), Thomas Cowan (4x800m), Owen Faulha (javelin) and Karsen Vesty (4x800m).
- Faulha was the first Terrier to ever win the javelin at the Patriot League Championships and Omonzane was the first athlete to sweep the horizontal jumps at the Patriot League Championships since 2012.
- In 2025, the women's team finished as runners-up with 167 points and the men finished third, tallying 134 points.
- Omonzane picked up Field Athlete of the Meet honors after championing the long and triple jumps and posting Patriot League Championships records in both events.
- The Terriers' women's 4x800m squad also broke the Patriot League Championships record with a 8:39.22 time. Both Borin and Dodds return from that squad.
- Guy Margalit was named the Patriot League Men's Rookie of the Meet after finishing as runner-up in the triple jump.
- Since joining the Patriot League in 2014, the men have finished in third place seven times and had their highest points total in 2017 with 147.
- The women won the outdoor title in the 2014 season with 203.5 points and have finished second five times. 167 points in 2025 was the most since 2017, when the Terriers finished second with 171.5 points.
- BU has had men's individual champions at least once in the 100m, 200m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m Steeplechase, 5000m, 110m hurdles, 4x100m relay, 4x800m relay, 400m hurdles, hammer, triple jump, high jump, long jump and javelin.
- The Terriers have also claimed at least one individual women's champion in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 1500m, 5000m, 10,000m, 100m hurdles, 400m hurdles, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay, 4x800m relay, high jump, long jump, triple jump and hammer throw.
