Four Men's Soccer Student-Athletes Earn PL Weekly Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Four Boston University men's soccer student-athletes have earned Patriot League weekly honors following their standout performances against No. 13 Vermont and Army West Point last week.
Freshman Guillem Vila Ametller was named the Rookie of the Week, while junior Anthony Harper earned Defender of the Week. Senior Andrea Di Blasio took home Forward of the Week and senior Ben Alexander was named Goalkeeper of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.
Vila Ametller played a massive role in a BU defense that defeated Army West Point 4-0 on Saturday and finished in a scoreless draw against No. 13 Vermont on Tuesday. The freshman defender had one shot against the Catamount, while defensive presence helped the Terriers collect their third consecutive clean sheet following the victory over Army West Point. Additionally, Ametller recorded starts in both games last week, marking five consecutive starts.

At the 59' mark, Di Blasio fired a shot above a defender to give BU a 4-0 advantage and finished the game with three shots. On Tuesday, Di Blasio tied for the most shots against the Catamounts with two on the evening.
Alexander had two dominant showings in net for BU. Against the No. 13 Catamounts, the senior goalkeeper faced five shots overall and made two crucial saves in the second half. In the Patriot League opener on Saturday night, Alexander faced 10 shots and made three saves, including two in the second half, to secure the 4-0 win for the Terriers. Saturday's shutout marked Alexander's third consecutive clean sheet, marking the eighth of his career and his fourth at BU.
BU will continue Patriot League play on Saturday, Sept. 19, when it faces Navy in Annapolis, Md. The 1 p.m. game will be streamed on ESPN+ while the Patriot League provides an international stream.
