Sarah Shute, who starred at Boston University as a three-time first-team regional All-American, was promoted to associate head coach in the spring of 2014 after four seasons as an assistant coach for the Terriers.
Shute, who graduated in 2008 following a senior campaign in which she helped the Terriers reach the NCAA quarterfinals, finished her career with 45 goals - third most all-time at BU - and her 107 points place her fourth in school history. She broke the program record for career games played with 87, thanks to helping the Terriers earn back-to-back-to-back America East titles her final three seasons (2005, 2006, 2007). BU advanced to the NCAA tournament in each of those years, culminating with the program[apos]s first appearance in the quarterfinals since 1991 thanks to an overtime win over Big Ten champion Iowa.
One of just five Terriers to be named to the All-Region First Team three times, Shute also was selected to the America East All-Conference First Team in each of those three seasons in addition to earning All-ECAC honors her senior year.
Shute played in the 2007 NFHCA Division I Senior All-Star Game and also received America East Academic Honor Roll Recognition three consecutive years. She trained with the USA [apos]B[apos] Team during the summer of 2008 and played in international matches against Japan and Canada.
