Alex Macpherson joined the Boston University women's soccer staff as an assistant coach in June, 2017.
In her first season on staff, Macpherson helped guided the Terriers to post a 10-8-3 record. Rachel Bloznalis repeated as the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, while Anna Heilferty was named the league's Rookie of the Year to headline five All-Patriot League selections.
No stranger to Boston, Macpherson came to BU after spending the 2016 season as an assistant coach at the Wentworth Institute of Technology before taking over as the interim head coach in January. Prior to his time in Boston, he spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Franklin Pierce University.
In addition to coaching at the collegiate level, Macpherson serves as a college placement program consultant for Global Premier Soccer in Waltham, where he coaches and supports high school and club players, and assists prospects through the recruitment process. Additionally, he serves as the creative marketing manager for Boston Ski & Sports Club in Watertown, where he leads all aspects of graphic design, marketing and event operations throughout Greater Boston.
Macpherson got his coaching career started in Waltham as a head coach and director of marketing for Global Premier Soccer, where he worked with multiple youth teams and managed the marketing team.
Macpherson graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in graphic design and went on to receive his master's in sports management from Franklin Piece University in 2016.
